Highlands is one of our favorite spots in North Carolina! It’s a small and very charming mountain town tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the western part of the state. The closest major airports are Atlanta (ATL), Asheville (AVL), and Charlotte (CLT).

The Asheville Regional Airport is 57 miles (1.5 hours) away, Charlotte Douglas International Airport is 160 miles (3.25 hours) away, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is 140 miles (2.5 hours) away.

We are more than happy to advise on optimal times to arrive and fly out of Charlotte! Highway traffic out of Charlotte and Atlanta on weekday afternoons and evenings can get heavier, but there should be no problems with traffic returning to any of these airports on Sunday after the wedding.

The rooms are super comfortable (think fireplaces and heated bathroom floors), and there’s a fun game room, fire pits, and even a heated outdoor pool. It’s a great choice for a relaxed stay right in town and shuttles will pick up and drop off guests Saturday at this location.

Set in a beautifully restored 1880s house right on Main Street, the Highlander Mountain House is cozy, charming, and full of character.
